Whilst working on the design for this exhibition we discovered that the collector not only collected the art works. But also had gathered all possible flyers and
personal correspondence letters related to the artist in his collection. The invites and letters from the past were reprinted forming the poster and attempting to
make the flyers and letters relive a second life. A special font was designed.
"The main focus of the Collection Alexander Schröder has always been centred around art from the present which represents his desire to be in constant dialogue
with the ‘new’. Through this immediacy, the collection especially reflects the current developments in contemporary art in the moment it unfolds. This proximity
to the ‘new’ is exactly what fascinates Alexander Schröder and embodies his main inspiration. His collection illustrates an exciting moment in the development of
contemporary art over the last 10 years. Many artists – who are now internationally renowned – were supported by Alexander Schröder from the very beginning.
The art from the 90s to today represents a number of equally important positions in which artistic production stretches through design, advertisement, architecture,
film, theatre, dance and music. Some artists follow socio-political strategies, while others return to a position of conceptual, artistic autonomy. An important part of
Alexander Schröder’s collection is represented by artists who have been dealing with the politically and socially critical potentials of artistic production since the
beginning of the 90s – predominantly questions surrounding the public sphere and its structures Tom Burr, Isa Genzken, Christian Philipp Müller, Henrik Olesen,
Manfred Pernice and Andreas Slominski). A second area of concentration lies with a generation of painters who are concerned with the questions what formal potentials
painting still offers after conceptual art (Thilo Heinzmann, Sergej Jensen and Michael Krebber). A third focus is demonstrated by artists whose work is oriented around
the conceptual art practices of the 60s and 70s (Cerith Wyn Evans, Christian Flamm, David Lieske and Jan Timme). Finally the collection also encompasses a number
of artistic positions grounded in historical, literary as well as social and cultural perspectives (Cosima von Bonin, Lukas Duwenhögger, Andreas Hofer, Ull Hohn,
